"Si j'avais voulu jouer au Barca, je n'y serai pas parti. J'étais très content quand Arsenal s'est intéressé à moi, et j'ai pris la décision de venir ici. Je n'ai aucun regret, je suis seulement concentré à aider Arsenal.

C'est sympa de savoir, en tant que joueur, que de grosses équipes s'intéressent à vous, mais je suis très heureux ici. Il me reste 3 ans de contrat, donc je suis concentré à jouer chaque semaine, progresser et faire la différence pour Arsenal. Je ne suis pas pressé à prolonger, je suis heureux, à l'aise, je veux rester ici pendant longtemps.

J'ai seulement 21 ans, donc j'ai beaucoup de choses à améliorer. Le plafond reste haut. Je dois juste continuer d'apprendre et de progresser. Les compliments, il faut les accepter mais ne pas trop y croire, sinon on se repose et on arrête de travailler. Je continuerai à faire la même chose pendant toute ma carrière. Apprendre, analyser chaque match et j'espère progresser.

Ca fait quelques saisons qu'une équipe se construit, on a intégré de nouveaux joueurs qui semblent bien s'adapter. On a bien débuté dans toutes les compétitions, et chaque joueur a été performant. On peut voir l'excitation chez tout le monde, pas seulement les joueurs mais les fans et le staff. Tout le monde est sur la même longueur d'onde, et ça se voit sur le terrain.

[Le North London Derby] On a pas besoin qu'on nous explique, on le sait. C'est comme une règle que l'on apprend quand on arrive au Club, et on peut le réaliser quand on discute avec les fans, a quel point c'est important. Même si on est pas dans ce pays depuis longtemps, même pour des joueurs comme Granit ou Lucas, ils savent que c'est important de gagner ce match pour tout le Club.

[Arsène Wenger] Tout le monde au Club veut qu'il reste. C'est un grand manager, il l'a montré à travers les années. Il fait tant pour les joueurs, et on veut lui rendre en gagnant ce titre. C'est notre objectif. Je suis sûr qu'il serait heureux, mais on espère tous qu'il restera plus longtemps."

Bellerin prolonge à Arsenal ?



Selon Arseblog News, Hector Bellerin a signé un nouveau contrat avec Arsenal. Il avait encore 3 ans de contrat après avoir prolongé déjà en 2015, ce nouveau deal est plus une récompense pour son nouveau statut dans l'équipe, et pour repousser l'intérêt des gros Clubs européens. Selon leurs informations, le deal est signé, et ce n'est plus qu'une question de temps pour officialiser la confirmation.

L'agent de Bellerin, Albert Botines, a declaré au Guardian : "On discute, on est maintenant plus proche qu'il y a deux semaines. Si tout se passe bien, ce sera signé. Hector est très heureux à Arsenal. Ce sera son 4ème contrat au Club, et c'est clair qu'il a fait de gros progrès."

C'est pas illogique, c'est un élément clef et les salaires augmentent à vitesse grand V dans l'effectif. On a signé Welbeck à 115k par exemple il me semble.

The Arsenal players had Friday off so Hector Bellerin went on a binge. He did a little gym session, because football comes first and he will not let up on his strength and conditioning work. Then he got down to flexing his mind.
Bellerin is studying for a marketing diploma with the University of Pennsylvania and, for his online course, had lectures to watch, notes to compile and tests to complete. He caught up on general reading. He is an addict of forbes.com and surfs news, history and business sites. Books that shed light on the mental side of sport are another interest.
Looking ahead to the north London derby It is a far cry from the Tuesday Club and John Jensen being left comatose after six pints with Ray Parlour and Tony Adams. Arsenal players, even foreign ones, used their free time differently back then. Bellerin's binges are on self-improvement. Reading, study and extra shifts in the gym are what he does most work days -- when training is over -- too.
The Spaniard is still only 21 and has a youthful side: his build-up to the North London derby included playing his favourite video game, Call of Duty, with Dele Alli. But he is precociously mature and is already taking the long view about his career.
"I know people think we should only think about playing football, but we have a lot of hours to spare, and I like to keep my mind active," Bellerin says. "I read a lot. And this is a career where you are finished playing and you are still only halfway through your life, so I want to be sure I am ready to do the next thing then."
He chose the course at Penn because it is demanding and imposes deadlines of two weeks for students to view a lecture, research the topic and be tested on it. He wanted that kind of discipline. He is too modest to say but his marks are above 90% -- and English is his second language. He is already thinking about what's next: perhaps an accounting or business diploma.
Bellerin does not want to be a footballer with no idea about managing his own profile or money. "How the industry works, social media, business, looking after your own image and yourself financially -- it interests me," Bellerin says.
Might he join the small band of players who became club executives, such as Edwin van der Sar and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge? "I am not thinking too much about exactly what I'll do. People are already asking about coaching and everything else and I don't know yet. I'm only 21," he smiles. "It is a long way away, but I want to explore different things and be ready."
Bellerin struck up a social media dialogue with Ed Smith, the cricketer turned writer. Bellerin had a couple of Smith's books, which he greatly enjoyed, and a question about mentality. In football, attackers need to be "natural" and free but defenders must stay cautious and analytical. Modern full-backs switch continually between attack and defence, so how do you work with opposing mindsets? Bellerin and Smith had a fertile online discussion.

We turned it around against Ludogorets [after trailing 2-0] and that was also important because it shows we can bring in different players and the mentality is still the same. We won a tough match at Burnley, and Southampton [decided by Santi Cazorla's 94th-minute penalty] was another where we had to be strong to win.
"Maybe last year and before we would give up too easily. We have spoken about this as a group. The coaches are good at reviewing our performance and at the start of the season went through one or two things about what happened last year. The important message was about staying calm when we have a setback and trusting ourselves, our approach and the qualities we have.
"I speak to fans a lot and know they have suffered difficult times. They come up to me in the street and say, 'You have to do it this year'. I would love to deliver for them."

Bellerin's arms and upper body are noticeably bigger than when we last met, in February, and he feels he has more power in the aerial battles and tackles. "I'm still learning but I'm happy people are not talking any more about my defending. I'm more experienced and know where Shkodran Mustafi, inside, needs me to be."
Manchester City are covetous and Barca would like him back but he has three years left on his contract and says, "I have been in London for five years and love it. It's my home and I would like to be here for a few years longer. It is not an issue."
Rested for Ludogorets, he appreciated a masterclass by Mesut Ozil. "I was saying at the TV 'he has to shoot, he has to shoot now!' but Mesut is so incredibly calm," grins Bellerin, discussing how Ozil chipped the goalkeeper then walked in Arsenal's winning goal. "We see that all the time in training. He is the greatest number 10 in the Premier League. The guy is phenomenal."
